Why?

Why can't my mind be more like my heart -
See something I want and work hard to get it.

But, why can't my heart be more like my mind -
To think things through and avoid any heartbreak.

I just don't get it.

Why can't I learn to think with my heart -
To learn to trust others through my love for them.

But, why can't I learn to love with my mind -
To be open with everyone about how I think and feel.

I just don't get it.

Why is life full of ups and downs? Why must we always fall into despair soon after we have cried with joy?

I just don't get it.

One thing is certain - that once we fall down, we can always get back up.
