Trembling and Waiting

by Iola   Apr 5, 2006

I’m trembling and waiting; anticipation is my new middle name.
Please don’t be deceived by my words; don’t be puzzled by my frame.
I am a warrior of God; I’ve blown His horn in despair.
Exactly aware of this realm - looking and always aware.

My fingertips sweating and shivering; it’s over my shoulder I look.
Should I hide from this war; or should I turn to His book.
Shivering and biting; I scratch my skin more than twice.
Counting each day in horror; or rolling and watching this dice.

Pumping my stomach and screaming at answers waiting to unfold.
Absolutely defining each sentence and word I’ve been told.
Chills down my spine - and dry land that stretches so far.
Can a small child climb in; or will I be held back by scars?

I am a warrior of God; trembling and awaiting this fight.
Feeling slightly scared; but extraordinary ready and alright.
Bearing forward so slowly; and suddenly fearless through this storm.
Bloodily ready for action; with a heart refusing to be torn..

Recognize my trembling; and see my body shake.
I’m not sleeping anymore; I’m alert and I’m awake.
See through my eyes and smell it – the fear and the fury tonight.
We are warriors in this realm, preparing for the biggest fight.
