Back on Track

We were young when we first started,
Doing what we thought was right, trying to love whole-hearted.
We tried to be the perfect couple, smiling in front of friends,
Yet behind closed doors we always fought, never making amends.
We messed up by trying to play house,
You paying the bills and me trying to be the perfect spouse.
Little did we know about what would happen next,
A baby girl and our relationship forever hexed.
Times got hard, stayin\' on the grind just to make ends meet,
Enough was enough, so I took baby girl, making our worlds incomplete,
Yea, times got better, even had a lil extra in the bank,
So everyday I sacrificed to the Lord a praise of thanx.
As time progressed I tried to forget about you,
Tried to suppress all my feelings and thoughts about you.
There was something that would not let me fill this void,
It was something i could not avoid.
It was our baby girl,
The precious gift we brought into this world.
Each time I looked into her deep, warm brown eyes,
It was you I actually saw to my surprise.
Day by day my feelings got stronger,
Up to the point where I could not take it any longer.
I knew I had to go retrieve what was rightfully mines,
Before another woman tried to come and cast her vines.
I gathered the courage to go knock on your door,
You opened it and to my surprise all of our passion was restored.
You held me close and I never let go,
Showing you all the love my heart had to bestow.
There we were again, back in our perfect world,
Me, you, and our baby girl.
