The Cemetery

by MethodtotheMadness   Apr 10, 2006

Trembling in the corner
Head to her knees
Crying with pain
Begging him please
Her entire body
Beaten and bruised
Seething with blood
Many times abused
Seeing her fear
Slowly he smiled
She whimpered softly
Like a broken child
He turned and left
She let out a sigh
It was times like this
She so wanted to die
She wondered again
Why she even stayed
As the events of the night
In her mind replayed
She knew she'd not leave
Even if he shattered her every bone
For never again
Did she want to be alone
She'd made her vow
To be his loving wife
So it was with him
She'd stay for life
Ever so faithful
For she loved him so
She'd never tell
And no one would know
She thought of her favorite place
From when she was young
It was there that she'd go
When all had gone wrong
Oh how she wished
She could go there now
But he'd told her so stay
And she'd keep her vow
She heard the door open
And cowered with fear
Trying to hide in the shadows
As his footsteps grew near
He walked up to her
Knelt to the ground
They were now face to face
She made not a sound
Gently he took her hand,
Pulled her upright,
Carefully put his arms around her,
Then held her tight
On his shoulder she wept
Clinging to his shirt
Both outside and in
The pain so badly hurt
As he stroked her hair, she thought:
"This is how it used to be
When he never hit
When he still loved me."
She smiled at him
He smiled back
She softly touched his face
It was then that he snapped
He threw her down
And beat her again
She covered her face
Tried hard to defend
But he was bigger
And so much stronger
That both of them knew
She wouldn't last much longer
Blinded with pain
So deeply fear struck
He swung again
But she managed to duck
That enraged him more
He scratched her neck raw
She screamed aloud
Then he broke her jaw
Hysterically sobbing
She crawled across the floor
She loved him so much
But she couldn't take this anymore
He grabbed her foot
She tried to get away
He looked to the table
And grabbed the ashtray
With it he savagely beat her
Smashing her head
All he could think
Was he wanted her dead
When he finally stopped
She was lying so still
He'd wanted to hurt her
But had not meant to kill
Her blood was in puddles on the floor
And splattered across the walls
Her eyes and mouth open
She made no sound at all
Her safe place to go as a child
When she'd felt alone
Had now become
Her eternal home
