A butterfly's death...

by Jenna Balkin   Apr 11, 2006

I saw a butterfly today,
it was lying dead on the grass,
it's wings were frayed...
Pale white and pearly pink,
as I looked at it my mind would think...

I am like that butterfly,
forgotten on the ground...
I am dying slowly...
and no one is around...

I am forgotten,
or was i never loved?
Never was I forward,
but to the sides i was shoved...

For who could love a butterfly?
So brittle and quietly sad...
Mixed in a world of violence,
a gift the butterfly never had...

So now it fades to nothing,
but a carcase in the wind...
When you look at it's sad face,
do you realize you have sinned?

"Oh!, What a pretty little butterfly,
it's a shame it doesn't live,
oh yeah! I live in selfishness,
so not a care I give..."

" It's just another butterfly,
and today,
there are heaps of them around..."

But what you did not realize was,
their wings are frayed,
and they are lying on the ground...

I am like a dying butterfly,
hear my very last breath...
I'm only noticed when I'm gone,
This is, a butterfly's death...
