The Story of a Broken Smile

Another day goes by...
Here comes those endless tears I cry.
So slide off this fatal mask I wear...
And see what lies beneath the moonlit glare.
Secrets were kept, and words were shared...
The words kept inside were instantly smeared...
I'll tell you a story about a broken heart.
You'll find out the pain you put me through right from the start.
And during this time please look in my eyes...
And tell me that you really do realize
What my broken smile signifies.
Does it tell you the truth about a girl
Who had to pretend she was fine...
And everyday had to act like a mime?
All that was missing was the white paint on her face...
She constantly felt out of place.
In the story, her prince charming came.
He told her he loved her and she felt the same.
The paint came off...but the mask stayed on.
The prince broke her heart, and she couldn't move on.
She still hasn't to this day...and she probably never will.
So everyday she goes and sits on a hill...
Wishing to be far, far away...
In a fairytale forever and always.
But then reality sets in and she's back to her story...
With no kisses and hugs...
No beauty or glory.
And this story...it has no happy ending...
Just the memory of a shadowed romance and too much pretending.
