This Life

by Bill Turner   Apr 20, 2006

Searching the canyons of my mind
A vast wasteland lay sprawled before me
Painful memories, lost moments and time gone
Having left a trail of destruction along the way
Letting you into my heart I live for today

Tomorrow may never slip through the night
Somehow being stopped at the border
Eyes not opening upon the light of day
Each day sharing all my love with you
Wanting to show it in all that I do

Carrying with me the baggage of my past
Leaving those useless suitcases on the curb
Knowing someone will cart them off tonight
No baggage will I have as I go through this life
Not as long as you are my soulful, loving wife

Like clouds at the coast I drifted into your world
Staying a while and blowing with the breeze
Finally finding myself at your door to stay
Like the blind man who once could see
When apart you were my only memory

You have promised me forever with your heart
Once thinking I would live eternal and never die
Unable to wrap my mind around what forever could be
All I ask instead is your love day and night
Weaving days into a lifetime of passion and light

Beautiful Bill... So wonderfully written! The love you ask for should be greatly given to a man such as yourself. You're a good man, I admire that!
