The Person in the Shadows

There's a person I know so well
Someone who could never tell
Someone who went through hell
Someone with a never ringing bell

No one ever talked to him
Around him the lights always dimmed
Will never forget him
I still feel him under my skin

I knew he took his life
It stabbed me like a knife
He didn’t even have a wife
He never had a chance to drive

I started to cry
The tears wouldn't dry
I never cared to say "hi"
I never even looked him in the eye

He always seemed like a geek
Everyone called him a freak
Help was all he seeked
All he was, was weak

Now he can't sing
He can't feel a thing
He didn't have a chance to be king
But he sure did earn his wings
