The Beautiful Girl

by Leah   Apr 23, 2006

The beautiful girl stares blankly
at a room full of her peers
she's wearing her pink prom dress, and she's holding back her tears.

Her momma helped her pick it out
inexpensive yet quite graceful
anyone with a pair of eyes
could see that is was tasteful.

The beautiful girl takes a cautious
step towards the dance floor
men stare as she passes
catching eyes she didn't catch before.

The beautiful girl is nervous
for she hasn't brought a date
and as she tries to hold the tears
its one hundred cuts to late.

On the dance floor she wanders
taking long glances at her stiletto heels, she's wondering if anyone knows, exactly what she feels.

One of her heels steps on her prom dress, and it slips off her shoulders, still looking down it takes her awhile, to realize that its hers.

The music stops, all is quiet
everyone sees the cuts
on the beautiful girl
but nobody has the guts of the beautiful girl.

Nobody wants to get close
to the beautiful girl
for she is just a ghost.

the beautiful girl,
and nobody sees her crying.
