The old couple

by sharon   Apr 23, 2006

Sitting on a beach all alone, my heart feeling empty, wondering how I'd like my life to be.
When I looked up at an aged struggling couple, they stood out to me.
Four feet walking in tune, leaving foot prints, signatures in the sand dune.
Their beginning untold..
Thier ending unsold.
My gaze turned into a stare.
How warm it felt to picture me there.
Thier hands gripped and entwined holding on tight.
Husband set in pride, as this was his wife.
A triuph of life, unnoticed by most.
Just a little old couple walkig the coast.
It made me realise, I longed for it more.
Happiness, oneness this is what i saw.
To have a story told by both.
All those years ago, sworn by oath.
In thier eyes shone an open peace.
Love and honour did never once cease.
The cool whistling wind stopped as they shuffled by.
Replaced by the warmth of a love that would never die.
Not a word spoken as they travelled thier eternal destination.
Built on respect, and a rock solid foundation.
I envied that couple who strolled long the sea.
Wishing inside it was a you and me .
