A friend in me

by sharon   Apr 30, 2006

I tried to love a friend of mine
Not once, not twice, but time after time

Tears of happiness, tears of pain
Feel so different, but taste the same

She always whispers, My words are true
Believe in me, to find a better part of you

Trusting is no gamble if you look inside
The answers are there for you to provide

She as been there since I was just a child
Those were the days, when I felt no reason to hide

One friend in a lifetime, she tries to put me first
When I am happy, lonely or at my worst

I stared at my friend wondering what I would see
I looked at the reflection and standing there was, me

It is time I loved me with the self-worth I deserve
No more ignoring my feelings or putting them in reserve

I need to trust my ethics, my principles and stand with conviction
From now, we are best friends; I am saying goodbye to all confliction
