Misery

by Jenny   Apr 23, 2006

Alive and yet not living
You speak but make no sound
You see, and yet you're blind
To misery you're bound

Walking but not moving
You are here, yet far away
You look, but see nothing
You have lost your way

Right but somehow wrong
You cry, but shed no tears
Sorrowful, yet smiling
You scream, but no one hears

Obvious, thought subtle
Unimpressed, and yet amazed
What is, you are the opposite
In a way, it's slightly crazed

Awake but somehow sleeping
You touch but do not feel
In the light, but it is dark
You're trapped in the unreal

Winning, but you're losing
Happy, though you're sad
What you really want
Is what you once had

Fast but somehow slow
Fixed, but still so broken
Known, and yet unnoticed
From words still left unspoken

Sure, and yet unsure
New, but still so old
Found but, really lost
You've been left in the cold

“wanted” but pushed away
Searching, but not finding
Unwontedly spun around
You are now unwinding

Remembered but forgotten
Unfeeling, though you're in pain
Trapped inside lost memories
You forever will remain

Loving but still unloved
Alright, but not okay
Still caught up in the past
Not focused on today

Good but somehow bad
You give but do not gain
While living in this torture
It is hard to stay sane

Knowing but still clueless
Weak although you're strong
With so many people
It is hard to belong

Real but somehow fake
In reality, but still dreaming
It's so hard to move forward
When you've stopped believing

Expecting yet surprised
Promises left unkept
It's hard to remember
But easy to forget

Plain though somehow beautiful
White but also black
Sometimes (gray) the middle
Is the very thing you lack

Completed but unfinished
Undone although it's done
Left uncared for, for so long
You've started feeling numb

Seen but still unseen
You don't know what's inside
You only see the cover
Because that's where you hide

In the lead, but far behind
Lost all hope of surviving
Slowly, and painfully dying
With no chance of reviving

It is, although it isn't
Should, but shouldn't be
If you haven't figured it out
This is describing me
