The rain was their murderer

by Chelsey   Apr 25, 2006

It was just another arguement, just another night
Every week it was a stuggle, his always wanted to fight
He stormed out of the house, broke the screen door again
It flashed in his face, when her and him were best friends
He grabbed three beers from the cooler, took off in his car
Wasn't sure where he was headed, more then likely the bar
A storm was coming his way, the thunder was loud
The rain started pouring from this one gray cloud

She had the baby in the back seat, just had to get away
She couldn't stand her husband, sho got beat up everyday
She threw out her back, oh she was in so much pain
Her child was crying, so afraid of the rain
She could barely see the breaklights, they should be red
She just quickly assumed, no one was up ahead
It was time to pull over, she couldn't even see
She'd explain her situation to the hotel, maybe they'll let her stay for free
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A tear fell on his cheek, his marriage was falling apart
Just because he was a man, didn't mean it didn't break his heart
How could she cheat on him? He thought they were in love
He let it go three times, but now it was enought
A car bumped him from behind, he pulled off to the side
He took his beer and stepped out, to see what damage was done to his ride
Just a little scratch, or so the rain made it seem
The other driver explained to him, the rain was not his favorite team
She couldn't make out what it was, but it looked like two cars
She couldn't see anything but the shape of the million stars
Her baby was now asleep, she needed a place to go
But her lieing abusive husband, kept her from everyone she knows
As she approached the objects, her car made a noise
She came to find it wasn't the car because she heard a voice
A man was underneath it, he appeared to already be dead
The woman was so scared she felt throbbing in her head
She called 911, they announced the death of the man
He dies with his true love, a beer in his hand
The woman contemplated suicide but had a child now
She needed to have faith that they'd both make it somehow
She explained to the police there was another car by the guy
Awkwardly the police told her, also that man died
It was her husband, the pain in her heart started igniting
He was trying to keep them from leaving but gont struck by lightning
The rain cause their death
The story made the news
The rain was their murderers
The men couldn't even choose
This is kind of a ummm..."different?" poem...I didn't know where to go with this I had a whole bunch of ideas and kinda put the together
    Quite interesting the way you tied it all together. I was intrigued from the beginning, though it did get kind of confusing in parts.
    Take care and keep it up~Holly
    It was slightly different and it was likeable. The words were good though they sometimes messed with the flow especially somewhere in the third stanza. Imagery well done as was the story line with the rain.
