They Sit Alone

by Emily   Apr 28, 2006

They sit
alone in the park
long since forgotten
so cold and damp

they sit
alone near a puddle
waiting for friends to come back and get them

they sit
alone on the gravel
so alike, they're always together
almost like twins
so similar, with all but one difference

they sit
alone in the dark
the shoes of a child since long gone
