Green-eyed Gaze

by Emily   May 24, 2006

The green-eyed boy waits alone
waiting for what we may never know
standing out in front of the record store
just waiting like always before

he's always there
he never leaves
I watch him, stare
at the life he leads

leading him to no where new
but where he is
and where he's been
and where he'll always be

leaving him with nothing at all
nothing at home
nothing but alone
nothing but the strangers passing by

I've always wondered why he's there
why he's alone
why his green-eyed gaze never strays
but stays straight ahead

I've always wondered where he came from
why he left
how he got here
why he never seems to notice anything around him

One day alone I saw him standing
saw him staring
saw him lonely
I came to a conclusion as I watched him wait

I came to the realization
that the green-eyed boy who's all alone
is nothing but a ghost
a ghost without a home

He must be waiting to move on
for someone to get him
take him to heaven
he's waited far too long
how he got here
why he never seems to notice anything around him

One day alone I saw him standing
saw him staring
saw him lonely
I came to a conclusion as I watched him wait

I came to the realization
that the green-eyed boy who\'s all alone
is nothing but a ghost
a ghost without a home

He must be waiting to move on
for someone to get him
take him to heaven he's waited far too long
