Choking on a Nightmare

by Kelly   May 1, 2006

Imprisoned in a dream, floating on a cloud,
Knives going deeper into the skin, screams are way too loud

Caught in the hands of fate, a hard and clenching grasp,
Emotions are dark and shadowed, hidden behind a mask

Lies are being absorbed, lives are being tainted,
Remembering times of happiness, most of these smiles are painted

Choking on a nightmare, visions distorted and blurred,
Feelings this intense, cannot be put into words

Graves with upturned faces, where people are put to rest,
Dancing in a thunderstorm, crimson silhouettes

Everyones always being judged, people stereotype,
Destroying the hopes of being someone, everyone has a bite

Staring into unseeing eyes, trying hard to understand,
Reaching out for something to hold, someones invisible hand

Unpleasant and troubled nightmares, visions behind curtained eyes,
Letting go of something that was never there, its hard to say goodbye

Children are forced to be something theyre not, their minds are innocent,
Their thoughts are being twisted, their view of the world is bent

Whispers are turning to screams, still unable to be heard,
Hidden behind these walls, millions of unspoken words
