My Special Gift - Thankyou Chelsey

I received a special gift today
When I arrived to collect my mail
A special gift from a land afar
To reach me across the seas it did sail.

A box that was rather large and full
It took an effort for me to lift
All day at work I sat and pondered
Wondering what could be in my special gift.

I got home all excited and keen
Tore the paper off which was tightly wrapped
Sat on my couch in front of the telly
Placed my special gift upon my lap.

I read upon the sender's details
A smile was strewn across my face
My special gift was from my darling Chelsey
All the way over in the United States.

I tore the paper off with such excitement
And my heart did fill up with precious glee
I was so grateful for the time and money she'd spent
To send such a special gift all the way to me.

The first thing I did extract from my gift
Was a photo of my sister I hold so dear
I put upon my mantelpiece with my family
I couldn't help but shed a tear.

Then the goodies came hard and fast
I could not help myself but to smile
All these edible American treats
Had travelled to me across the many miles.

I had kool aid, peeps, and Easter lollies
Twinkies and cornbread all packed and sent for me
I was so surprised I just wanted to scream
It's all the American food I only see on TV!

See coming from the land down under
These are sweets I do not get to enjoy
Then I dreaded the endless nights of no sleep
Once the sugar had gotten to my boys.

So I continued to unpack my jolly gift
Layer by layer an inspiring book was yet another
I loved it so much because I knew the meaning
Of our desire to always be bettering ourselves and each other.

But then came the icing on the cake
The gift that touched me so very deep
A special folder containing poems written to me
I couldn't control myself and began to weep.

All the beautiful poems she'd written for me
She'd collated into a precious printed book
With photo's of her growing up that I had missed
As I wept and continued to have my sook.

It meant the world my special gift
All the thought and energy she did take
But I should stop being so emotional
And try to make some of this corn bread cake!

I hope this poem can begin to express my sister
Just how much your kind efforts meant to me
And in few months a knock at your door
Will also have a gift for from across the sea.

I promise no more vegemite Chelsey
If you promise to read my instruction
And guaranteed there will be plenty of Tim tams
For you and your families pleasurable destruction.

I hope to surprise you yet again
To make you as happy as you did me
Another precious care package soon to be sent to you
From your sister across the seas!

    Eirisa, I am going to tell you what I told Chelz... I am crying. Such a beautiful and loving write for someone so special. It's a blessing to have someone like Chelz come into your life. You both have such beautiful hearts and are so giving. Your relationship is one to be treasured. This is a beautiful, heartfelt and tear jerking write.

    OMG! and I so forgot to mention the most IRONIC thing...last night...I started writing you a poem about the exact same thing....I'll have to finish it today!!! It was kinda weird when I saw this post I was like WHOA what the heck!?! I started writing you a poem too! Now I'm super excited to post it!

    Ohhhhh now who is having the sniff tear?! MEEE! Sunshine I love you soooooo much this was yet another poem that made me cry!!! In the middle I was already tearing up!!! Eirisa this was a BLAST sending you gifts especially the food you will never have over there! ummmm cough cough Khal needs to remake the koolaid dang it with some sugar!! I am so glad you liked the book of poems I sent to you.....I knew that'd be your favorite...Everyday I'd come home from school and decorate another page and print off another poem..It was every poem I've ever written for you! It was so fun to make though really I just told mom that I was actually missing it because when I was bored, I'd add another page to it to give me something to do!! LMAO at the vegemite stanza! hahahah that of course made me laugh and cry more because...well I don't even know why I cried more!!!! I really appreciate this poem Eirisa words can't express how it makes me feel when someone writes something for me! A lot of times when I feel like no one is here for me, I read your decations to bubba titta chelsey! I print them all off but of course this is my most fave because its such..I dont even know how to word it Eirisa..I can hear the excitement in your words.....ohhh woman and you got me sooo excited for more tim-tams!!! eeekksss!! *mouth drools* lol
    I love you so much Eirisa and I do call you Sunshine for a reason..had a crappy day today and you just lit up my whole house girl!!!! Glad you enjoyed your gifts and goodies it really was so fun for me!!!
