Daddy's Crimes

by Bradley Peter   May 2, 2006

She took another beating
that wasn't hers to take
she made another decision
that wasn't hers to make

protects her little brothers
from their father's heavy hand
who beats her black and blue
to the point where she can't stand

her bruise are a symbol
of her struggle and sacrifice
her brother's cause the problems
but she always pays the price

she is only young child
in body but not mind
when daddy comes to hurt her
she goes somewhere he can't find

then one day out of the blue
daddy starts a new game
he doesn't beat her though
but he hurts her all the same

she been beaten and now raped
and that's the final straw
so when he came again
she quickly headed for the draw

she shot her father down
shot him a good few times
but then she went to prison
and paid for daddy's crimes

Oh My Dear Lad this was so...so ...sad .
It really hit my heart .

The fact that this does happen way to often in our world is so sad.
What ever happened to protecting the children...especially when they're our own ....

Wonderfully written poem Bradley , that will hopefully open a few eyes !
    Take care !

That is so incredibly sad, a real eye-opener. I hope this is just a perspective poem and nothing you or anybody you know had to go through. Take care.
