For the Weary and the Weary at Heart

by Poetvoices   May 4, 2006

Getting ahead means nothing.
The only true thing it means
is that harder times are coming.
I hate this knowledge horribly.

Dreams are the reason.
They cause this false security and hope.
Dreams are wonderful, and dreams are awful.

Dreams seem so final, and yet,
in the end, they're always temporary.
A summer love, a block of ice,
a vapor, a first kiss, carnal knowledge...
None of these things, while all important,
EVER last.

Do you wanna know the REAL reason
that an everlasting gobstopper hasn't,
and never will be, invented?
Nothing in this world is constant...

Case and point--dreams.
Perhaps, they are the least constant of anything.
Don't get me wrong.
Dreams are important.

Dreams are life.
Dreams are death.
Dreams seem final.
Dreams are temporary.
Dreams come to life.
Dreams die.
Dreams predict.
Dreams lay to rest.
Dreams are strived for.
Dreams come easy.

My advice:
Just rest your head, my weary friend,
and drift into your dreams.

    I really like that part.

This has a really good meaning, and it really makes me think about what is going on, and what I do about my dreams.

Do I just disregard them? Or do I pay attention to what they mean?

And so on and so forth.

Great job. I'm going to go read it again.

I love this poem above everything I have read in a long time and the world is ever changing and nothing is constant you are very right about that but I think dreams are not the least constant, but feelings are, espicialy how fast love can turn to hate (I love the Charile and the Chocolate Factory refrence by the way)
