Pretty

by NicholeNymphetamine   May 4, 2006

You tell me I look pretty, but I ignore everything you say,
You don't see in the mirror, what I see everyday.
You tell me just to smile, but please tell me what for,
Happiness is something I just don't have control of anymore.
You tell me not to worry, but the numbers are all I see,
Sometimes I think that piece of metal is starting to lie to me.
Maybe I do need to stop, or maybe I see what no one else does,
But when you told me I was pretty, I wish I believed I was.

I know exactly what you mean
but my life is kind of different
many people are fascinated by my beauty
but they dont know what sacrifices i had to do to have the beauty they see
and they dont have any idea what lies behind this mask of lies

Aw that is so sad. It's a really good poem though.. very heart felt & full of emotion. Great job on this.
