Returning traded hearts

by Witchblade15   May 5, 2006

Remember when we traded our hearts
I gave you mine
and you gave me yours
and we promised to keep it safe.
Its now time for me
to return your prized possession.
I will tear my chest open
and rip out what belong to you
that was living in me
Ive got to do this now
before its to late.
I don't want its hue to turn to blue
and be broken into tiny fragments too
A broken heart
is a severe wound
and will take quite a while to heal
but there will always be scars left
So we ll trade it back
before they become shriveled
by the bitterness
of the seed of resentment which grows
as the days get older

This is really good, but there is one point I want to clarify: is the perosn in your poem scared he/she might break the heart she is sheltering, or is she/he scared that hers will be broken too?
