Sun Green City

by David R Merry   May 9, 2006

Upward and outward, landscape sights,
The once towering trees, that had no rights!
Scenic pictures, near and far,
Replaced by concrete, for all the cars!

The smog, the smoke, it downward pours!
It cools, and falls, back to its floors!
Sent up by machines, that made it hot!
Cinders and gasses, in a state of rot!

Surviving greenness, which lives and tries!
Is covered with fallout, from the skies!
We shout, and protest, but why they should!
Consider our complaints, while their profits are good!

Their day is done, and work complete!
Close down production, and rest their feet!
Whispering sounds, of silence and peace!
Their damage is done, `till morning breaks!
