Amy

by Emily   May 10, 2006

Imagine a little girl, yet but four
Bruised and broken, lying on the basement flour
Can you see it? I know itâ??s there
This happens everyday, but do you care?
This little girlâ??s names Amy; she came home from preschool today
Mommy dropped her off at the house, and said, â??Iâ??ll be home soon okay.â??
Leery of her mother, she walks up to her home
Opens the door slowly, she thinks sheâ??s all alone
She walks into her bedroom, and there he had await
The monster of her dreams, what daddy was to create?
Heâ??s drunk once more again, as Amy new right it away
And mommy wasnâ??t there, like she was the other day
In his hand lay the belt, which left the cutting marks
She cringed when she saw it, as her stomach turned to parts
His anger by the scene, which he raised his arm to strike
Amy tightly closed her eyes; as to show there wasnâ??t fright
The pain flew down poor Amyâ??s back; her knees gave out she fell
Daddy then had kicked her, and said youâ??re better off in hell
Daddy walked away, to grab another drink
Just enough for Amy, to ponder around and think
Amy got to her feet, and prowled out the door
Ran down stairs to hide, for she knew daddy would come back for more
She hid inside the dryer, as daddy yelled her name aloud
She heard him come down the stairs, as she tried not to make a sound
He screamed and cursed, for Amy to come out and play
Amy whispered to herself, â??no daddy not today.â??
Daddy flung open the closet door, where Amy had hid last
He checked in all the hiding places, where Amy would hide in the past
He then looked too the dryer, Amy felt his eye so pierce
She prayed to god heâ??d go away, and wouldnâ??t be so fierce
Up to the dryer daddy had went, Amy new it was time
He opened the door slowly and said; â??now you werenâ??t hard to find.â??
He took her by her arm, and flung her to the ground
He told her she was worthless, and that he doesnâ??t want her around
Daddy then had kicked her; it was the hardest of his might
Amy felt her ribs brake in, and gave up to him on the sight
Daddy then had picked her up, and looked her square into her eyes
He said sheâ??ll never be good enough, and that she messed up mommy and daddyâ??s lives
He said heâ??d never want a daughter, and that she was his biggest mistake
Then he got more angry, and threw poor Amy into a bookcase
When Amy hit the floor, she knew it all be over
Cause when daddy came back up to her, and said heâ??d never love her
Daddy turned around, walked up the basement stairs
Amy lay on the basement floor, telling herself no one cares
Later that night when mommy came home, daddy wasnâ??t in sight
Mommy called out for Amy, for she knew something wasnâ??t right
Screaming out Amyâ??s name, and then to have no answer
Mommy knew Amy was hurt, for she couldnâ??t hear the sound of laughter
She checked downstairs her last resort, and found her mangled Amy
Franticly she called 911, and said the bastard hurt my baby
The paramedics came to the call, put the little body on the stands
But Amyâ??s body was just too weak, and was already in gods hands
Mommy knew she was gone, and packed her stuff to leave
Shocked from the sight sheâ??d saw, she couldnâ??t even grieve
Daddy came home drunk, later on that night
To a house full of nothing, and was angered by the sight
But on Amyâ??s bed there was a note, and this is what it read:

I thought you were the man, which you were meant to be
From when the time you said, â??I do,â?? from the first time you said you loved me
But when you started drinking, I knew it was all a lie
I knew I should have left so sooner, and then poor Amy wouldnâ??t die
You snatched my pride you stole my joy
You threw poor Amy around, like she was a toy
I hope youâ??re happy for what youâ??ve done; and Iâ??m never coming home
Now youâ??ll know what it feels like, to be someone who feels so alone
