Dancing in the Rain

by Brigitte   May 11, 2006

The day was cold and dreary
The sky was gray and teary
Raindrops trickled down my nose
And onto my cold little toes

The sun was playing hide and seek
But the clouds were too busy taking a leak
Rain flooded the red brick street
As tiny crystal raindrops kissed my cheek

No umbrella for me today
Just another rain shower in the middle of may
Jumping in puddles like a little boy
Pretending I was a sailor "Ahoy!" "Ahoy!"

Strangers passed on by
Struggling to stay dry
They shot me disapproving looks
"Shouldn't you be inside reading books?"

But I continue jumping in puddles
It's not like I'm causing trouble
I may be of seventeen years,
But raindrops and puddles aren't my fears.

Awesome poem girl! It's so good-spirted, it makes people realize that rainy days aren't that terrible. You made this poem funny in some parts, like the,"But the clouds were to busy taking a leak" hehe, nice work!! 5/5 <3

This poem is really good, I love the rain, and every poem that talks about rain. I liked how you related raining with happiness and fun.

    Good job! 5/5

I liked this- but felt you could work a bit more on the great subject matters and ideas you've got. One way of doing this could be the rhyme which although was great in some places often sounded just a little forced. Sometimes you don't have/can't rhyme to get the right effect. Nevertheless this was a very good poem and i like the ambiguity of the last line. Good Work

Haha. That's so cute, and true. You're NEVER to old to jump in puddles. :D

    Great Poem.
