That Day

by Sonny   May 11, 2006

As he opens the envelope she begins thinking of him there

He says he has a job to fulfill and that he has to serve and protect

Theres a week left before he has to go and fight for his country

As he leaves his family and friends behind they cant stop crying

They know he has to do it for everyones freedom

Letters after letters she gets and reads and writes back

She tries and tries to do things to keep all the bad things off her mind

Theres nothing else she can do to reminder herself he'll be ok

He sends letters by the dozen to her and friends

She answers back and then sends him the last letter she'll be sending him

Its been 10 and a half months since shes got a letter from him

A week later she gets a letter from the captains of the war

As she opens it she begins to cry reading it

Knowing he'll never be coming back home

Family and friends try and help each other out when they realize hes gone

Standing at his grave she never thought it would be him not coming back home
