The Truth About Lies

by Lomyr   May 15, 2006

Everybody lies to you,
They may want to subdue
The anger that would boil away
Inside you if you knew.

They lie to you at work,
To keep you working 'til you're sore,
Your friends all lie to you,
Perhaps to make you like them more.

Your parents always lie to you,
They think it's for protection;
Your neighbours lie to you as well,
They're doubting your direction.

They lie at school to make you think
They know something you don't,
Your lover thinks you'll leave her;
She lies so that you won't.

The government will lie to you,
To keep you on their side;
Though every time you challenge them,
They just deny they've lied.

They'll lie to you in Heaven,
They'll lie to you in Hell;
There's fifty-fifty chance they'll lie
In purgatory as well.

Why it is they lie to you,
Just cannot be explained,
But truth be told; I lie to you,
To keep you entertained.

    Whoa! This is incredible Jonny! I really love it. The final stanza's my favourite though cuz it's so different from the rest of the poem and because it stands out it feels far more creepy! wooo spooky fish! :D
