THE TIE GUY

by Nate   May 21, 2006

It was early August and I had purchased my school clothes for the up coming year.
I bought no dress shirts as I was the coach and my previous principal understood my fears.
You see when you coach you get dirty, sweat and smelly too.
So the clothes you wear are not conducive for ties, of this it is true.
The first day I met with my new principal, I knew him I would dread.
For how can you be positive with a short, balding man by the name of Molstead?
So he looked at my attire and said, Mr. Armstrong a tie you will always wear!
I said but Mr. Molstead I have already bought my all my shirts and a tie they cannot bear.
But insistent Mr. Molstead was and a tie would my ensemble contain.
So I bought a brown bow tie and clipped it on, as if to express my refrain.
The tie looked pretty stupid on a sport shirt with only 3 buttons near the collar.
My students thought it looked pretty cool and soon my bow tie was all the school holler.
Students began bringing me every tie their Dads did not and would not wear.
So my tie collection grew and grew and wearing a tie became my own affair.
I own ties made of wood, rubber, silk and leather.
There are ties with Scooby, Superman and Spiderman and even one with weather.
There is a Mardi Gras tie that a student bought me in Louisiana.
I have got ties with whales, cougars and even one of a banana.
I even have a chocolate tie that I cannot wear.
My favorite is an Albert Einstein tie and his wild hair.
The tie rack has over 100 ties and the kids say Oh MY!
That is why I am now know as the one and only TIE GUY!

    Nate 'the tie guy' --
This poem was funny ;; it made me laugh a little. But it was boring, so it kind of dragged on. I think you should make it shorter, and add more detail, or, take a little of the detail out. But overall, you did a good job.
Thanks much for commenting on my poem, it was much appreciated. Thanks!
