Soldier.

by Megann Lee   May 22, 2006

Such a young lad, whom was caught in the path of disaster.
A journey so long, a life so young and new.
Just a misconception, he never re-thought.

What he knew was that he was here to help, serve and protect his country.
Just a boy, the Meir age of Nineteen.
His entire world, now engulfed in darkness.

A death, that wasn't take so nicely.
Of a Soldier whom never was meant to return on his own.
A fear he kept in his mind all along, of how he may not be the only one to go.
Now just lifeless body, resting so neatly in the casket.

With darken skies, his Mother stands and cries.
And his Father, being handed the neatly folded American Flag.
With a slight gesturing nod of his head.
A single tear sliding down his cheek.

As his son is layed to rest, his tear falling onto the ground.
The beautiful casket, being covered in cold damp earth.
As the rain starts coming down in steady streams.
A thought passes threw the Soldier's Father's mind.

Knowing his son, died doing something he wanted to do.
The grave marker stating it clearly.
As his mother now lays a single red rose upon the mound of earth.
Tears still trickling down her cheeks before falling upon the flowers bright red petals.

And the whispering, being mummbled into the cold air, by his Father.
"You're braver then I ever was, my young son, and for that, I love you so."
As the sunsets, and the darkness falls.

Shadows fall, upon the Eire Cemetery.
Moonlight showing a shadowy image by the Soldiers Grave.
Of a Young lad, whom is standing Proud.
Knowing he died, serving our Country.
Just like, his granddad did in the years before.
