Never Walk Away

by Erin   Feb 17, 2004

He holds his hands out to reach his prize
but its out of reach by far.
He looks at it with such longing; such hope
But it glares as if he were not there.
He cannot believe his prize wont come;
he just stands there bewildered
and now he knows what he has done,
and he must walk away alone.
He turns around from the thing he wants
and takes just one more glance.
As the tears fill up into his eyes he knows the time has come.

She will not be his prize no matter how much he begs her.
She is a woman not a thing and she will not live as one.
No matter how hard she tries she cannot see into him.
He is gone and isnt coming back
though this body still remains.
But as she looks into his eyes she sees the tears build up inside and finally he begins to turn away,
how much she wants to take his hand and take his pain away.
But her pride just makes her walk away and they are both alone.

As the strangers walk, away a tear falls down her cheek.
His pain fails so cease; his strength is falling slow.
Hes not the way he used to be.
What happened to her smile?
I loved him, but our summers gone.
It will never be the same.
These thoughts flowed through the strangers minds,
as they turned away.
But in the end they both shall say,
I should have never walked away.
