Sweetly Broken

I understand now that I am broken,
Constantly haunted by words left unspoken.
I am unsure now if our love was a good thing,
So far it has brought me nothing but suffering.
When we were together, it hurt to love you,
And now that we are apart, the pain is new.
But I am learning how to live once more,
My broken heart I choose to ignore.
I am becoming stronger then I ever was before,
Picking up my heart that you shattered on the floor.
I am choosing to thank you, even though I am in pain.
For I know that it will all work out for my gain.
I will no longer love completely
That ability you stole discretely.
But I have learned that people will lie,
Then they will make you cry.
But you have to keep your head up and remain strong,
Even when everything around you seems wrong.
