I'll Never Forget

Tyler, it's really been awhile
Since I told you how I feel.
You are such an amazing person.
And my feelings for you were real.

I can promise that I will keep you
Safe and close to me
Right by my heart
Where no other boy will be

You are like a precious gem
I will never let go of
Radiant and rare
Heaven sent from above.

I will always hold you close
Even if only memories remain
Because our breath-taking moments
Out number all the pain.

Yes you did hurt me
When you abandoned me for someone new
Shattering the perfect image
Of everything I thought was true.

But I will never forget your laugh
At one point it was the only thing that made me smile
Just for you to say my name
I'd walk a thousand miles.

I must let all of this go
For you now belong to another
And you were destined to be with her.
We don't belong with each other.

But honestly, you wouldn't have made me happy.
No with the way you always act.
You would've just brought misery.
And I wouldn't have made it through that.

But even as I say this
I still feel as though I'm holding your hand
Waiting for you to realize what we can be
So you can begin to understand.

But I have to accept
That you will never comprehend
And there will never be a you and me
Ever again.

Still, a part of me
Would give the world to have you in my arms
Cherishing and protecting you,
Keeping you safe from life's harms

And the other half is glad
You walked out the door
I've let go and moved on,
Part of me doesn't hurt anymore.

But I will never forget our memories.
Sometimes they're the only things that get me by.
We've experienced so much together
And on occasion they make me cry.

And the one thing that makes me happier
Then anything in the world.
Is knowing, although you're not happy with me,
You're happy with another girl.

You used to lighten up my world
When you'd smile at me.
But now the brightness is dimming
Ad it's getting harder for me to see.

I know I've moved on, because when you
Walk in the room, you no longer give me butterflies.
And I don't see us as a perfect happy couple.
When I look into your eyes.

As we grow older
I know very well girls will fall for you
But when they say they love you
No one will mean it like I do.

You are so unbelievably brilliant
In every single way.
But you've changed so much.
So without you by my side, I have to walk away.

But I will never forget your smile
For it's the only thing I have left of you.
Of the boy that proved to me
Not all dreams come true.

I really like this one and I think this poem is one of my best.
