The Battle Within

Here's the thoughts of a girl
As she gazes into his eyes.
He's blinded by her beauty
To see the confusion inside.

His hands are so gentle,
They could never harm.
Don't be foolish,
Only intentions keep them warm.

But how could he look at me like that,
And not have a care?
Look around girl,
You're the only one there.

Oh, but his sweet words,
How they make my heart melt.
If only those words were backed up
By feelings he truly felt.

What if he's real,
What if he's true?
What if he's not.
What if he breaks you?

I need to take a chance,
Or else, I'll never know.
He'll only pull you deeper,
Til he decides to let you go.

He says I'm like no other,
So mysterious and smart.
You're only a puzzle he'll put together.
When finished, he'll break you apart.

Why can't you just let me live,
Let me love and be loved in return!
Because I never forget the past,
Unlike you, I learn.
