Breaking Point

by Unbreakable   Aug 16, 2006

"Go to this college," Says Dad.
"Keep your mouth shut," says Mom.
"You should try this," says Sue.
"Prove your love to me," says Tom.

Believe it or not, there was a time,
When I picked out my own clothes.
Where Ms. Independent was my name,
What happened, nobody knows.

I listen to the beliefs of others,
Be open to what is right.
So I go against my intuition,
Even though, hurt I might..

I'm shoved and poked here and there,
However I don't make a sound.
But I feel I'm being forced into a corner.
With nowhere to go but down,

My mirror must have shrunk overnight.
For I sit here and study what I've become,
Trying to swallow the unbearable image.
Of a lost little girl, so fragile, so numb,

Now I'm afraid it's come down to the point.
Where I can't breathe on my own,
So if you'd be so kind, and do one thing my way.
Please put "I tried" on my stone.
