A Familiar Stranger

by Unbreakable   Aug 31, 2006

Who is the boy in the picture
In this dust-coated frame
You're well known in this house
But all I know is your name

I'm lucky to know that much
For your name is seldom spoken
Seems best to just avoid it
No tears are shed, no hearts are broken

So my mind is left wondering
Questions go unanswered
I try to put 2 & 2 together
With a past of missing words

I know that you existed
I know that you were good
But I didn't know you
You were taken before I could

I've heard about that winter night
Or should I say morning
Was the curve too sharp?
Was there no sign of warning?

I can only imagine
The last thoughts running through your head
"Did I have a good life?
Are their things I should have said?"

I'm forever dreaming
Of the day I meet you
So I can look in the eyes
Of the brother I never knew.
