Isn\'t It A Shame

by You already take me there...   Jun 11, 2006

So here I am alone
Lying in bed while the tears flow
Bringing rain to this side of the fence
Where the grass is supposedly greener
I haven't seen it yet
Because from where I stand
Everything looks pretty damn gray

And isn't it a shame
When you can't speak your mind
Cause you're biting your lip
Because you're hurting so bad
It's just a dirty damn shame
When you look back in your life story
And all the pages are blank
Cause you didn't write it down
For fear of remembering that day

So this is where I stand
Looking at the world pass them by
And maybe I'm in slow motion
But I think more they're moving too fast
They haven't seen it yet
And I doubt they ever will
Cause they're only running to their graves

Oh ain't it a shame
When you can't stand straight
Cause you feel nothing but used
And you only question your worth
God forbid they take some blame
For the sadness in your eyes
It leaves me confused
I think you'd love to see me fall
Or maybe it's just you can't reach out

I see where you are
I know it's a place you don't want to be
But I've been to a place not far from here
Cause I've heard the stories
And I know that they're true
but believe when i say
That I'm standing there too

So here I am beneath clouds
Looking up with arms wide open
Tasting the rain on this side of the fence
Waiting for the grass to grow greener
I haven't seen it yet
because from where I stand
Everything looks pretty damn gray
And it's just a dirty damn shame
