Our Empire

by Scaleeski   Jun 11, 2006

I suppose this proves you're not willing to fight
I've dread this on these dark cold nights
Because I've painted this picture in my mind
Closure has been so hard to find

My summer's been so cold
No one is there to fit your mold
I've moved along without you by my side
I just want you along for the ride

To me giving up is a chore
I want friendship nothing more
I have no one to gripe to
No one I can trust as much as you

Everyone else judges me, sends me away
You accepted me with every word I say
I don't understand how I've managed
I realize now how I've taken advantage

To me giving up is a chore
I want friendship nothing more
You don't have to be there every time
I just need someone to ease my mind

You don't understand how shy I am
That's why I don't spill my heart to them
The trust I've established in you and our empire
Is the only thing that could raise me up higher

It kills me to know I'm strong enough to move on
Only because you taught me how to move along
Our Empire wasn't built on sand or stone
In the flesh of forever our memories are sown

I'm not begging to be forgiven I need no such thing
I say we make a new song together we sing
We start over and let our mindsets move
We'd be the friendship kid tested and mother approved

222 is dead, buried in our lie
Now I've grown to see you eye to eye
Can you say you didn't miss me
My regret was the lock and you are the key

Do you feel the need to be best friends?
Nothing else or we have to end
I can see us being less than that
There's still an empty place where you sat

Give this a try just don't worry
No three years, no anniversary
To me giving up is a chore
I want friendship nothing more
