My lost Homeland

by Golden 101   Jun 17, 2006

This is a poem written by my freind keri. ^_^ hope u lurve it lol.

Sri Lanka, my homeland,
Miles and miles away.
My memories are foggy and gray,
But I do remember,
ash and blood on display.

A petite island of natures beauty,
Is now at risk of civil duty.
Within the country, people fight.
For regional rights.
When a land mine cries,
The laughter dies
Birds flee as their nests burn down,
No one has any concern.

Will the tenderness of being in my homeland return?
Where is that place? Where has it gone?
When we fight for the land,
It loses its sweetness and glory
And the pride that was once there,
is now gone.
You and I, we are all losing it,
Bit by bit
Watching the sunset,
With the people I meet.
The shape-shifting sand,
That lies on the warm, dry land
Suddenly vanishes,
because of the war.
This is a shame, but
Who is to blame?

Safety is so far away, and
I can't handle this pain any longer.
"Mom", I say, "Please tell them to stop fighting,
.....Before its all too late".
