The Memories Will Never Fade

by Lauren Waszkiewicz   Jun 18, 2006

Our hearts are plagued with sadness,
Our souls are drenched in pain.
Because the memories of that fateful day,
We know will never fade.

The world seemed to stop turning
And time appeared to freeze.
How could this have happened?
Why have their lives been ceased?

Faces turned the color of snow.
Each and every smile disappeared.
Lips trembled from the unreal shock.
And eyes were glazed over with fear.

The rooms went eerily silent.
No one could believe the news.
Such a tragedy striking our little school?
It couldn't possibly be true.

A fatal go-kart accident,
And two of our classmates gone.
How could such an innocent ride,
Go so inexplicably wrong?

We miss their wit, their laughter, their jokes.
We miss their guilty grins.
We miss how they were more than friends,
How they seemed like they were twins.

It's not fair, they were too young.
They did not deserve to die.
They belong with us, here on Earth,
There should not have been goodbyes.

Even though summer has arrived,
And we're onto high school next year.
We guarantee that the memories and love,
For these boys will not disappear.

The world seemed to stop turning
    And time appeared to freeze.
    How could this have happened?
It was like an awful scheme.
((Bad, bad rhyming here... Sorry to be blunt, but I'll just be honest.))

Otherwise, a very sad poem. I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I hope everything is ok.

Now, I liked this poem, but it isn't your best. I realize it is harder to write about people (at least for me) and you did a nice job. Other than that one part explain above, it had a nice flow to it. Good job.

Very nice descriptive language, metaphors, similes and all that. The poem was specific and detailed, and of course very emotion-filled. Excellent write.
