I miss our talks

by Chris   Jun 19, 2006

I miss our talks
One thing you use to say
When times get hard on you
Look up above and pray
I wish that you were here with me
Couple more years with us
Just long enough to see
I try to always be so strong
Some days it's hard to hold on
I know I'll see you again
Till then please rest in piece

Everyday you're here with us
In our hearts you are
With you to guide me on
No telling just how far
I will go in life
Succeed beyond belief
Fight through the hard times
And overcome the grief

I won't forget the things
You taught to me before
Treat people with respect
Love your family nevermore
And when I get to soar
Show up at your backdoor
Feel pride that's more and more
Than anyone has before

When my son was born
You were there with me
To let me know he's safe
Three kisses on his little face
You held my hand so tight
Waited there all night
And told me it would be all right

We've faced the darkest times
But we've came through okay
I think that I'd be lost
But you are there to show the way
And I am not afraid
I know just what you'd say
Bubba you must be so brave
Love and faith with always save
And strength will be with you
You\'ll know just what to do
Get him on his feet again
And teach him what is right and true

And when I said, "I do"
You were watching me
You always helped me see
That she was who I need to be
You showed me whom to find
The one that is so kind
To help me fight the time
When I need that someone right behind
When life is only strife
And I will love her for all life
And I know we'll survive

You tell me it'll be better
In spite of real bad weather
I never feel you gone
We'll always be together
The coffee that we sipped
The grass we always clipped
All those cards we flipped
Twas yesterday or so it seems
We still do all of these
But only in my dreams

And someday I'll get old
My time on earth is done
And when I get to heaven
First thing I'll ask the men
"Please tell where to find
The lovely Miss Evonne Walden"
And whisper in my ear "Well Done"
Well done grandson.
