Lover's Suicide

by Heidi   Jun 21, 2006

She doesn't exist
Without him by her side
Though he hasn't hurt her,
She continues to hide.
Through the sheets on her bed,
And the curtains on the wall.
She slowly walks down the road,
And continues to feel small.
The shadow on the road,
And the sweaters to cover her scars.
She slowly dozes off to sleep,
Running away from all life's harm.
Through the screaming each day,
And the fake dreams at night.
She wakes up crying,
Wondering how much longer she can keep up with this fight.

He doesn't seem to exist,
Without this girl by his side.
Though he's beginning to hurt her,
He hates to see her hide.
He gets so lost sometimes,
With an emptiness in his heart.
The days pass by slowly,
As he wonders if they'll part.
He doesn't think she knows,
That he loves her to the moon & back.
He just doesn't know how to show it,
'cause he doesn't know if she'd ever say I love you back..
So with a lot on his mind,
He begins to make a mistake.
Starting to run,
Wondering if this risk he should take.

With a gun in his hand,
The crowd gathers around,
They find a young boy,
With his face to the ground.
His head in the pavement,
With a note by his side;
"I loved you with all the air I breathe,
I love you with every piece of my heart,
Without you, my world is falling apart,
So, girl, I've loved you until we've had to part."

She pushed through the crowd,
And saw that single note.
A tear running down her face,
With that, her heart broke.
His love was true,
Her heart was pure.
How could she have doubted,
The loved he claimed for her.
With that she sank,
to the ground by his side.
And whispered to his limp body,
"I no longer have to hide."
"You taught me how to love,
And step away from my fear.
I love you with every single smile,
And every single tear."
"I don't want to leave you laying here,
On this cold cement ground,
So I'm going to lay here with you,
Until our two limp bodies are found."

So this girl,
Made her decision to end it all.
She picked up his mistaken gun,
The crowd watched her fall...
On to the ground,
By her lovers side.
They died together,
"Lover's suicide."

I'm speechless. This heart-wrenching story of two suffering lovers is perfectly portrayed through every stanza. A love so powerful, it couldn't live in life, but in death. Stunning. I will read it over and over again. :)
