My First Love

by Mamma Rosa   Jun 24, 2006

My first love, suffered for such a long time.
Like a warrior battling a endless war for such a long time.
I cradled my first love close to me.
Her weight I could bear, she was all but skin and bones.
If only I had the power to turn back the hands of time, I would.
If I could sacrifice myself for her, It would be done.
If all that I owned be taken away from me, I would give it all oh so gladly.
If only I could go back to my mothers womb, I would wish it so...
To go back and look again into the face and eyes of love.
To know that it is unconditional love.
From the instant that I came to exist You protected and kept me safe.
No matter what I did, you were always proud of me.
I thought my heart would break in two.

Mother, for you, I could do any wrong.
I sang your favorite songs and a single tear from your eyes told it all.
You did not want to go on God's first call.
Though you could not speak I could hear you say.
"I do not want to go from this bed, until I can feel my sons touch upon my head".
"I need to hear his sweet voice one last time".
"YOU can understand".

I heard somewhere to tell you not to be afraid, to go, walk into the glowing bright light. Not to worry that I would be alright.
I could not bear to see you in such pain. Seeing you suffer was making me insane. It was better to let you go, then see you waste away.

Mother, you will always be in my heart. Each time I look into my children's eyes I will see you face.
I will nevber forget the things you taught me. I will never forget you. You will always be with me.
...and you, Mother, will always be my first love.
