Slip Away

by Anonymous   Jun 24, 2006

Meaningless sounds released from your lips
Haze in my head, all memory slips,
Loneliness now my only ally,
With the darkness I weep while the sun is high.

I see you speak but I cannot hear,
Words of comfort can't penetrate my ear,
Time is taking its toll on my mind,
My senses fail, deaf dumb and blind.

Desperation my final chance,
To snap out of this deepening trance,
Take me away from the place of my pain,
Now there's nothing to lose, I see nothing to gain.

Nights cover darkens my heart,
Broken now but never mended from the start,
And I leave you with this thought, which is here to stay,
Did I have a chance? As I slip away.
