Mistakes

by *Amanda*   Jun 25, 2006

Swallowed by darkness, emptiness, fear
I try so hard to make a sound, but
Instead I disappear.
I lay in bed for hours, thinking of how it could be
Instead it's all dead, it's all my fault, can't you see?
If only I was a better person, none of this would be so
Terrible, like it is
Don't tell me that it's not my fault
Trust me, I'm just a dumb kid.

I know that we all make mistakes, but mine have
Taken over everything...

Recovery is not about making mistakes but in realizing that mistakes have been made. When we accept this we can ask for forgiveness of others for the wrong we have done them and the wrong that we have done to ourself. Guilt is like an idiot light on a dashboard. It alerts us to the fact something is wrong not that the car needs to be thrown in the trash.
