Aftermath

by Levi   Jun 30, 2006

Slowly trudging through the water and blood,
The entire army is dead lying in the reddened mud.
The sky is dark and the fire's burn.
Seeing this makes my stomach churn.
Men I once fought among, now gone.
For their families, and new son's born,
Crying in the wind and rain,
Having nothing but their dying pain.

After all has come and gone,
We sit and hope for a new dawn.
Lone survivors of wars once fought,
Feeling just lost and distort.
These scars will remain until the end,
Inside and out, remembrance since then.

For their lives these brave men gave,
They'll live on from beyond the grave.
