I Went To See You Today

I Went To See You Today

I went to see you today
To tell you how I felt
To give you my heart

I went to see you today
I saw your face, you smiled
But it did not reach your eyes

I went to see you today
I wanted to hold you
You backed away

I went to see you today
Not knowing nor seeing
It was your goodbye

I went to see you today
I had no idea
I had no clue

I went to see you today
One last time...
So you could break my heart

Wow. This was a sad peice. I thought it was really good. The only thing that felt abit off was that this poem had 3 lines for every stanza, and then 4 for the second one.

I went to see you today
To tell you how I felt
To give you something of my heart
[The syllable count is abit rocky so I thought maybe in this stanza you could say something like this..

I went to see you today,
Just to show you how I felt.
To give you a piece of my heart.

The first two lines are 7 syllables, and the last is 8. But you don't have to do any of that if you don't want to.]

All in all, I liked this very muchly. Keep up your great work. And, thank you for your comment. =) 5/5

The repetition of the first line of each stanza is effective in portraying the truth being revealed slowly. The last line, climaxes in a familiar pain, I believe, most of us have felt this pain. I can relate
