I Trusted A Liar

You`ve made me laugh,
You`ve made me cry,
Made me feel joy,
Yet made me feel pain,

"I love you" is what you would say,
But I never believed it,
"I care about you" is what you would say,
But I knew it was a lie,

After a while I gave up denial,
And I began to believe,
Believe all you told me, all that you said,
But trusting you was a mistake,

You destroyed my hope,
Crushed my self-confidence,
Strangled my trust,
Our friendship was brutally smashed to pieces,

All because I trusted a liar.

    My biggest critique would be the use of the same words over and over - like "you" in the first stanza. Maybe switch it up a bit. Someone told me that once about a poem of mine and I rewrote it and I think the reworked version is much better than the original
