Eight Friends

by Jenna   Jul 13, 2006

Let me tell you a story
Of eight close friends
Four girls and four boys
From beginning to end

Everything was perfect
Until one girl tragically died
Murdered by her stepfather
The others held each other and cried

Her death changed them all
They fought with one another
On couldn't stand the drama
So he left them for some others

On boy was driving with his brother
When a drunk teen crashed his car into theirs
When the others learned of his death
Their anger turned to tears

Two lovers in the group
Blamed each other for his death
The girl wouldn't talk to the boy
So eventually he left

The rest were happy for a while
Things were normal as could be
Until one girl moved far away
And four friends turned into three

One girl committed suicide
The two left blamed themselves
They never saw it coming
She hid her pan so well

A boy and a girl were all that remained
But they grew apart after a while
The boy developed new interests
But their friendship ended with a smile

One girl was left from the original eight
Sad and alone but also she felt free
And if you hadn't guessed by now
That last girl is me

I was mad at the first when she died
And I'll never forgive myself
I never really liked the second
But I hope life treats him well

The third was like my brother
I'm still not over his death
The fourth was my boyfriend
I haven't seen him since he left

The fifth is happy in Japan
And occasionally sends me letters
The sixth wanted to escape this life
I hope wherever she went is better

The seventh is a good person
And I knew it from the start
And though none of us are still friends
They are always in my heart.
