Seconds

by Jamin Huchingson   Jul 17, 2006

They say seconds don't really matter
But in just a moment a heart could shatter
When you've been lied to and the truth is revealed
You were a fool to believe everything she concealed

The deceit isn't hidden
You see the smoke start to rise
From the fire that has started inside

In just seconds your whole life could alter
Change courses with just a couple choices
Thought she loved you but left you at the altar

They say seconds aren't really an issue
But everything changed
As soon as these lips kissed you

Seconds matter
Cause in that one instance a heart could shatter
Lies are discovered
And that you really weren't true to one another

Seconds are the basis for minutes
I put so much effort in it
And those seconds turn into days
From the moment we parted ways

These seconds allow for reminiscences
And in these seconds a man can make wishes
For desires that started this fire

They say seconds are of no concern
But one day you'll learn

I hear that. It is surprising how certain moments can stick for you forever.
