Immortality

by Christine   Jul 18, 2006

If we could wake
And day by day
Know that our lives
Would stay the same
Would we still worry
Fret and fear
And try so hard
to remain here?
Would we still fight
And love and live
Our lives
And then could we forgive
Our friend or foe
For painful crime
That would remain
With us all time
Could we still hasten
About our tasks
And live our lives
Behind a mask
Or would we stop
And gaze and stare
At the world
We have, so fair
Or would we wonder
Wait and take
The time to think
Of our mistake
In thinking that
By hurrying by
Our lives will last
Time will not fly
When nature
in its' turn will take
our time from us
should we mistake
in thinking that
we have no time
to look around.
That is our crime.
