Porcelain Doll

by loretta Taylor   Jul 21, 2006

I wish I were my porcelain doll who sits upon my shelf
I wish I were her, cold and empty with out a sense of self
I wish I had her sapphire eyes, not ones crying like rain
I wish I had her rosy cheeks and not this bloodless stain
I wish I had her smiling lips not ones turned down in pain

I wish I were my porcelain doll who sits upon my shelf
I wish I were cold and unfeeling and dead inside myself
I wish like her I had no tender feelings for you to bruise
I wish to be clueless, not knowing what there was to lose
I wish I like she, would never know these infernal ugly blues

I wish I were my porcelain doll who sits upon my shelf
I wish to know if she hides her broken soul inside herself
I wish to know if she would suffer if she were to break
I wish that she could feel this tremendous pulsing ache
I wish she could know what it is to give and not to take

I wish I were my porcelain doll who sits upon my shelf
I wish to know if she would weep if I decided to killed myself
I wish to know if she could die of a broken heart or would it bleed
I wish to know if she would feel this endless ponderous need
I wish to know if she would die because of his terrible engulfing greed

I wish I were my porcelain doll who sits upon my shelf
I wish I were her, cold and empty with out a sense of self

Oh wow, that has left me reeling. I love synchopation, and when I first saw the poem, I saw all the 'I wish's', and knew I would like the rhythm, and then I read it all, and WOW is what is left. You are amazing. Well done. 5/5. xx
